What are some good powder options that would work well for all 3 cartridges? (I'd prefer to stick with CCI small pistol primers since I have a good stack of those already)Ģ. I thought I was going to go with Unique and 125 XTP bullets for his 38/357 cartridges but read a lot people questioning Unique for a JHP in a 357 mag load.
I've been doing a lot of reading trying to find a good medium/plinking load for him and keep reading conflicting opinions. I own a 9mm and was discussing my new equipment with my dad and he said he'd love to have me work up some rounds for his 38sp and 357 mag pistols. I am a rookie reloader and about to try my hand at reloading some hand gun cartridges.
I did a forum search but maybe didn't have the right combination of search terms. Pyrodex of course is very hard to clean, but with the Ruger I can take out the hammer and trigger group to get at the nooks and crannies, not a chore I would want to undertake with a side plate on a SW.I apologize if this has been covered before. I will also try some Unique and 2400 over the summer, and I am also going to run Pyrodex both hot and cold to see how temperature sensitive it is. I would rahter have a lot of easy to clean dirt than a little bit of hard to clean dirt, just my opinion. I agree 296/110 is not the cleanest burning powder out there, but it does clean up easily. I burnt one pound of Win296 and many many pounds of H-110. 500 SW, I burnt a pound of Lil Gun and didn't like it, without having read anything on the internet about it.
